Fashion for Everyone

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak”

— Rachel Zoe

Fashion has been a factor in peoples lives to help distinguish themselves from others from as far back as the 19th century . The ability to be able to dress to one’s preference has acted as a outlet for the people to express themselves through not only words but the way they dress. Fashion’s formal definition is the act of following a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior, but it has developed into so much more. At one point during the early innovation of fashion and style the terms were set to a certain way of dressing and if you dressed this way you were considered fashionable. This way of boxing fashion into one style has defiantly changed now due to the fact that fashion has branched off into many different styles and types depending on the wearer and what they like. Styles such as Street-Wear, Business Casual, Vintage Wear, an d many more have developed over the years to fit the wearers certain style and look they wish to go for, so that anyone can find a way of dressing that suits them. There are even some who choose to create their own style and this OK because fashion has now become a mixture of new and old styles to fit various individuals. The evolution of fashion is evident and a amazing thing to witness because it promotes the individuality and creativity inside everyone making fashion not just thing for a certain group but for everyone.

Style Runs In The Family

Interview with Jasmine Curtis

Jasmine Curtis is a 28 yr old single hard working parent that takes pride in the clothes she wears and also how she presents her self to the world through her style. Even though Jasmine is a single parent she doesn’t let it stop her from expressing her self freely in the clothes she wears. She does this because she refuses to be set to the standard wardrobe of a single parent and wants to convey her personality through daring outfits. This is what I admire most about jasmine she not only breaks the standard wardrobe barrier placed on single parents, but she truly creates her own style with her creative outfits. I am proud to be related to such a creative and innovative person that lives up to the motto of dress to impress that is why I chose her for this interview. If you are someone who would like to hear from a person that truly lives to barrier down fashion barriers then you should read her interview on the next page.

The Runway

The runway is a big part of the fashion world because it gives designers chances to showcase their work. Models pose for artists, photographers, or customers to help advertise a variety of products, including clothing, cosmetics, food, and appliances.  Models typically do the following: Display clothing and merchandise in print and online advertisements.

Do you have style

When it comes to style it is something that everyone has. I say this because style is not defined by one thing it is what you feel comfortable in and like. There are all sorts of different styles in the world and there all based of the wearer opinion. So never second guess on your style because it is defined by what you like.

Fashion in the 1990s brought forth a youth movement and offered carefree styles that dabbled in rebellion. Grunge and minimalism were the main trends of the decade with hip-hop and “sexy schoolgirl” styles also trending. Designers such as Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen pioneered grunge and took inspiration from the gritty streets.

Facts from- http://www.thetrendspotter.net

2000s fashion is often described as being a mash up, where trends saw the fusion of previous vintage styles, global and ethnic clothing (e.g. boho), as well as the fashions of numerous music-based subcultures. Hip-hop fashion generally was the most popular among young people of all sexes, followed by the retro inspired indie look later in the decade.

The Spark That Changed Fashion

Fashion is something that is constantly evolving and becoming better and better with each new style and trend that is put out into the world. The idea of fashion goes back from as far as the 1950 a time where people began to take serious notice in their appearance and how they were perceived by others. This realization caused the people to take pride in the clothes they wore and develop their own idea of fashion. By doing so fashion began to change and grow as time past becoming more widespread and embraced among everyone. People accepting clothing in different sizes, colors, and shapes is the spark that permanently changed fashion forever and made it was it is today.

Today’s economy consist of many different industries that are thriving due to consumers constant purchasing of products that these industries are producing. The fashion industry falls right into the category of industries thriving in today’s economy because of its huge profit from countless amounts of consumers. In my opinion is one of the top tier industries as of today because of how prevalent fashion is in the lives of the average person . Research from Jessica Bui author of the article ” Why fashion is important” on the website thetab.com supports how much of a impact fashion has on just about everyone in their daily lives. She states that ” Fashion is a daily task of choosing what clothing to put on your body for the day, and it is not only used to protect modesty, but it is used for self expression”. This statement shows just how important fashion is because it address fashion as a everyday thing, not just a once and while when you feel like it type thing but it is a process a person has to go through everyday. Also there are many different companies that have invested their entire business over the concept of people needing the new and latest fashion such as Fashionnova.com, Boohooman.com , Forever21.com. All these are websites and actual places that consumers can go and purchase different styles of fashion and they all have profited off this and become established as major companies. This proves that the fashion industry is growing and becoming more essential causing it to reach its highest peak today because of what it means to the consumers.

A Community Devoted To Being Creative

The fashion community is a wide spread group all around the world that enjoy showing off their creativity and expressing themselves through the clothes they wear. This is a community that is open to all types of styles, sizes, and colors of clothes in order to expand the concept of fashion. I feel this is a great community for someone to be apart of if they enjoy expressing themselves through what they wear. If this is you then you should definitely consider joining this community because this community wants to break the mindset of fashion and style being one way.

One way to be apart of this community is by being innovative and thinking outside the box with what you wear. By doing this you are taking the standards of what typical fashion is and turning it upside down to make something new. When you do you are embracing your creativity and a trend setter in your own way. This is a responsibility that pushes you to be unique and try harder when it comes to being different.

Another way to be apart of the fashion community is by putting your own style out to the world. What i mean by this is that find ways for others to see what you consider style to be go out and explore. Social media is a great outlet to put your style out into the world because it millions of people online waiting to see whats new in fashion. Once you find a outlet best for you to present your fashion out to the world you will officially be apart of the fashion community.

Does Fashion Matter

Professor Frances Corner is the head of London College of Fashion and in her words “She champions the use of fashion as a agent for innovation and change” she is also the Author of Arts and Culture article “Why Fashion Matters”

As you may already know there isn’t a day you go out into the world and not see some type of fashion from the people around you. Even with this known fact there are some who still feel that the concept of being fashionable or even having style is meaningless but their are studies that fight this way of thinking. For example https://artsandculture.google.com/ has a informational page dedicated to showing the importance of fashion. This site provides supportive information on how fashion matters, and it addresses the fact that fashion does have it dark side like other industries but it is still vast potential.
